Participants stressed the violence and racism faced by Indigenous communities, with concrete examples of territorial dispossession and the imposition of a dictatorship. It is important to talk about how climate change and degradation affect communities and have contributed to mobility. It is necessary to point out government contradictions and hypocrisy regarding climate change—for example by concessioning forests or the sea.

Everybody agreed on the importance of recognizing and valuing Indigenous communities’ wisdom and knowledge to address their own challenges and promote dignified settlement. Participants highlighted the importance of fighting for the defense of Mother Earth as a source of life. Moreover, participants also brought up the need to address the different dimensions of climate justice—such as the distributive and the human rights dimensions—within the movement.
